THE 2013 SHOW

30th May - 2nd June

A team of auctioneers and valuers from Shropshire’s leading fine art auction house Halls will be providing a free antiques valuation service at Bolesworth Showjumping Classic in Cheshire next week.

Described as the UK’s most innovative and entertaining equestrian event, the classic runs from June 9-12 at Bolesworth Castle, near Tattenhall.

Halls’ fine art director Jeremy Lamond and senior auctioneer and valuer Andrew Beeston will be heading the fine art team that will be providing free valuations of jewellery, paintings, ceramics and works of art daily from 10am to 4pm throughout the event.  People with larger items are advised to take along an image for the team to view or a home visit can be arranged after the event.

Other members of the team who will be available in Halls’ marquee at the event include Christina Trevanion, head of the jewellery department, William Lacey, pictures specialist and Derek Ainsworth, coins, medals and stamps specialist.

Throughout the event, visitors interested equestrian art will be able to a view a painting in the marquee by John Beer (1895-1915) titled ‘The Grand National, 1907’, which is to be sold at Halls’ June 29 auction of fine pictures, silver and jewellery.

The painting, valued at up to £800, shows the winner Eremon, ridden by Alfred Newey and Rathvale, without its jockey, jumping a fence together.

The race was memorable because Eremon, an 8-1 bet, broke a stirrup on the first circuit and then had to contend with interference from Rathvale, who had unseated its jockey. The pair raced side by side for the last circuit but Eremon managed to pull away to win the race by six lengths.

Last year, 18,000 spectators watched some of the world’s top showjumping and event riders compete for a prize fund of nearly £60,000 at the Classic.

“We are delighted to be associated with such a prestigious equestrian event,” said Mr Beeston. “It provides an ideal platform to further raise the profile of Halls as the company expands into Cheshire through our Whitchurch office and fine art department.

“We shall have three valuers at the event every day and they are looking forward to meeting people and identifying and valuing a wide range of items.”
