The Express Eventing Series 2011

Express
Eventing – the spectacular, exciting and fast-moving version of eventing -
is back. Developed and fine-tuned over several years, the Express Eventing
Series 2011 is integrated within four prestigious, established annual shows
throughout the country.
The Express Eventing Series 2011 rolls out at three Qualifiers – Bolesworth,
Lincolnshire and Gatcombe - this summer and culminates in the Final at the
Horse of the Year Show at Birmingham’s LG Arena in October.
The Express Eventing Series 2011 is your chance to witness all the drama,
skill and excitement of traditional eventing condensed into a dynamic,
proven compact version of the sport.
Express Eventing has developed from a purely invitational competition to one
open to all riders meeting competition requirements and universally
recognised equestrian standards.
The Express Eventing Series 2011 will consist of three arena-based
disciplines: ‘dressage to music’, cross country and showjumping, carefully
organised within the schedules of the three Qualifying and Final shows.
The Express Eventing Series will have a total prize pot of £100,000 with
approximately £60,000 being allocated to the Qualifiers and £40,000 to the
Express Eventing Final at the Horse of the Year Show.
The Express Eventing Series 2011 takes place at
• Bolesworth Showjumping Classic and Country Fair, Bolesworth Castle, 11
June
• The Lincolnshire Show, Lincolnshire Events Centre, on 22 June
• The Festival of British Eventing, Gatcombe Park, 7 August

Rider Testimonials
Alex Hua Tian, Chinese Olympic Team Member and 2008 and 2010 Express
Eventing competitor
“I count myself very lucky to have been invited to compete in both the 2008
and 2010 Express Eventing competitions and to be the only rider with a 100%
appearance record puts me in a unique perspective. It's been great to watch
Express Eventing evolve and adapt into a format riders will be able to
appreciate and still keep the original concept of ‘one seat sees all’ for
spectators. The distinction between invitational and qualification, in my
opinion, is an important one. It has matured Express Eventing from simply a
display, to a sport in its own right! The competition format change last
year worked and so I can’t help but feel that this year is when it all
begins!”
Oliver Townend, Winner of Express Eventing 2008 and commentator for
Express Eventing 2010
“Being part of the commentary team for Express Eventing 2010 certainly made
me appreciate how exciting the competition is to watch. However having had a
great experience in 2008, I am looking forward to having the chance to
compete in the competition again. I think that it is a great concept that is
developing into a spectator and TV friendly version of our great sport.”
Flora Harris – Winner of Express Eventing 2010
“Winning Express Eventing in 2010 was just and incredible experience and has
given me lots of new and exciting opportunities on so many fronts. I can’t
wait to defend my title this year!”
Mary King – Express Eventing competitor 2008
“Express Eventing is a very exciting concept. I am delighted the feedback
from the riders has been listened to and acted upon and hope it succeeds in
bringing a new audience to the sport.”
