Oliver Townend took ‘having a drink on the job’ one step further at the press launch of the Bolesworth Castle Showjumping Classic & Country Fair 2010.

The eventing star jumped the promotional fence in front of a crowd of photographers, journalists and sponsors at a launch to celebrate the brand new ‘Bolesworth Volkswagen Eventing Grand Prix class’ with a full glass of wine in hand much to the delight of the on-looking crowd and fellow guest show jumper Geoff Billington, who was also there to support his friend and the show.

Amongst the exciting array of showjumping classes at the show which boasts a £60,000 prize fund (one of the largest prize funds in the UK this year) the new additional Volkswagen Eventing Grand Prix will put event riders and show-jumpers head to head in a battle for the first prize of £2,000.

International event rider Oliver Townend is looking forward to competing at the show as he explains:

“This show is fast becoming a fixture for many professional show jumpers due to its great atmosphere and challenging courses. With this new class being introduced – it gives us eventers the chance to prove ourselves.”

Nina Barbour, show director and host of the four day show which is held on her family’s private Bolesworth Castle estate addressed the assembled crowd for the launch saying:

Every year the show grows in popularity and we get one step closer to our long term goal of becoming a key international event. We are attracting some of the best UK and Irish showjumping talent to our show and with the continued support shown by riders, sponsors and the visitors it won’t be long before we see our goal achieved.”

Geoff Billington also added his support by adding:

“This is a great show for the North West of England – and with the prize money on offer I am hoping that this year I will be winning the Grand Prix.”
